NVIDIA Expands Open Models, Training and Compute for European Scientists

NVIDIA joins the European Commission’s AI in Science Enablers Initiative, offering open models, datasets, training and cloud compute to accelerate research across Europe.

The European Commission has launched the AI in Science Enablers Initiative, a framework that connects private‑sector resources with research labs across the continent.

NVIDIA is joining the effort by opening more than 250 models, 250 datasets and over 1,400 open‑source projects covering language models, healthcare, climate science and materials research. These assets are hosted on public repositories and can be combined with toolkits such as Nemotron, BioNeMo and Earth‑2 to accelerate domain‑specific discovery.

In parallel, the Deep Learning Institute has released a freely licensed, modular courseware hub. Universities, supercomputing centres and developer communities can adopt the material without enrollment fees, creating a direct path to NVIDIA certification programs.

Access to accelerated compute is being expanded through partnerships with cloud infrastructure providers, giving smaller labs and startups on‑demand GPU capacity for simulation and training workloads.

Why it matters for GPU and AI infrastructure

By lowering the barriers to models, skills and compute, the initiative creates a larger, more skilled user base for GPU clouds. Providers like AiGpu can expect higher demand for flexible, high‑performance instances as European researchers move from prototype to production.
