Instinct, the AI‑driven personal agent startup, has just closed a $1 billion Series C round, lifting its valuation to $10 billion. The financing was led by Sequoia Capital, Benchmark Capital and Coatue, investors who previously valued the company at $2.5 billion a month earlier.

The platform lets users delegate everyday chores—booking travel, paying bills, ordering groceries, conducting research—to an AI agent that operates using its own phone number and computer. Recent updates include a concierge feature that can place phone calls for appointments and a trusted‑person network that synchronises agents across friends.

While the service has attracted viral interest, it has faced scrutiny over the amount of personal data required, prompting a revision of its privacy policy. Competition is intensifying as Meta’s AI assistant, Muse, offers comparable functions plus deep integration with Instagram, Facebook and Marketplace, propelling Muse to the top of U.S. app store rankings. Instinct remains app‑free, relying on SMS/text messaging, and has not disclosed user numbers.

Founder Noah Shinn said the capital will accelerate the rollout of Instinct to a broader audience and further develop the vision of a truly personal AI companion. Investors appear confident that the surge in demand for autonomous agents will translate into sustained growth.

Why it matters for GPU / AI infrastructure

Delivering real‑time, context‑aware assistance to millions of users places heavy demand on GPU‑accelerated inference clusters, as each agent interaction requires low‑latency processing of large language models. The trend underscores the need for scalable AI GPU resources in cloud environments to support continuous model serving, high‑throughput request handling, and the emerging class of always‑on personal agents.
