Google Rolls Out AI Search Ads Worldwide as Core Ad Growth Slows

Google expands AI-powered search advertising to international markets while its traditional search ad growth decelerates, signaling a shift toward generative AI monetization.

Alphabet reported $127.6 billion in Q3 revenue, a 25 % year‑over‑year increase, yet growth in its core search advertising business continued to decelerate. In response, Google is scaling ads inside its AI‑powered Search experiences to international markets for the first time.

Chief Business Officer Philipp Schindler said click‑through rates for sponsored product listings in AI Mode now match those of organic results, and early user research shows the ads are perceived as relevant. New formats include conversational discovery ads and sponsored recommendations woven into AI‑generated answers.

CEO Sundar Pichai noted that AI Mode queries are three times longer than traditional searches, with one‑in‑five searches using voice, images, or documents. Visual searches have surpassed 50 billion per month, indicating a shift toward multimodal, personalized query patterns.

Why it matters for GPU / AI infrastructure

The surge in longer, multimodal queries drives higher compute demand for large language models and vision transformers. Cloud providers and GPU‑as‑a‑service platforms such as AiGpu will see increased workload for inference and training, making scalable GPU capacity a strategic asset for advertisers and AI‑driven search products.
