European Pioneers Deploy NVIDIA Earth-2 Open Models for Real-World Weather and Climate Prediction
From cyclone risk modeling to solar forecasting, European organizations are customizing NVIDIA's open Earth-2 AI models on accelerated infrastructure to deliver hyper-local weather intelligence for energy, insurance, and transport sectors.

Weather decisions increasingly depend on neighborhood-scale precision, not just global outlooks. Across Europe, developers and enterprises are adopting NVIDIA's Earth-2 family of open AI models — StormScope EU for 10-minute satellite-driven nowcasting, CorrDiff for downscaling coarse forecasts, and FourCastNet 3 for large-ensemble climate risk — and tailoring them with proprietary observations on NVIDIA-accelerated compute.
Open Models, Regional Customization
StormScope EU, the newest Earth-2 member, ingests EUMETSAT Meteosat observations across 16 channels to predict evolving cloud conditions every 10 minutes. At GTC Berlin, a live pipeline built with Earth2Studio and Earthmover's data platform demonstrated real-time map-tile serving, letting users explore forecasts without downloading full datasets. The PhysicsNeMo framework supplies training tooling so teams can inject domain data — lightning strikes, air-quality sensors, solar irradiance — and retrain architectures for new environmental tasks.
AXA is running more than 1,000 simulated cyclone seasons with FourCastNet 3 to stress-test risk models beyond historical records. Vaisala Xweather fuses StormScope with its lightning network to extend short-term warning lead times, delivered via SaaS and AI assistants. The University of Manchester ported CorrDiff to the UK air-quality domain, training on the Isambard-AI supercomputer and deploying inference on DGX Spark desktops. TotalEnergies is evaluating StormScope-based solar-radiation nowcasts at photovoltaic sites to optimize renewable dispatch.
Why It Matters for GPU / AI Infrastructure
Each workload — ensemble climate simulation, 10-minute nowcasting cycles, desktop-scale inference — demands different GPU profiles: high-memory multi-node clusters for training, low-latency inference servers for operational forecasting, and compact DGX systems for edge deployment. AiGpu's flexible GPU cloud lets organizations match compute shape to model lifecycle stage, avoiding over-provisioning while keeping latency budgets tight for real-time weather intelligence.
