Chrome's Gemini-Powered Autofill Taps Gmail for Smarter Form Completion

Google rolls out enhanced autofill in Chrome that uses Gemini with Personal Intelligence to pull order numbers, tracking details, and travel bookings directly from Gmail, reducing manual data entry while keeping sensitive data encrypted.

Google has expanded Chrome's enhanced autofill capability by integrating Gemini with Personal Intelligence, allowing the browser to surface relevant details from a user's Gmail inbox — such as shipment tracking numbers, flight confirmations, hotel reservations, and recent order IDs — directly into web forms. The feature aims to eliminate the friction of switching tabs to hunt for confirmation emails.

How it works

When a form field requests information that matches patterns found in Gmail (e.g., a tracking number field), Chrome can suggest the relevant snippet. All suggestions are processed with end-to-end encryption, and users retain granular control over what data sources are accessible via Chrome settings, including the option to disable the feature entirely.

The rollout begins today in the United States across desktop, Android, and iOS versions of Chrome for users who have enabled Personal Intelligence in their Gemini settings.

Why it matters for GPU / AI infrastructure

Features like Gemini Personal Intelligence signal a shift toward always-on, context-aware AI assistants that run inference on personal data streams. This drives demand for efficient, low-latency model serving — both on-device and in the cloud — and reinforces the need for GPU-accelerated infrastructure that can handle personalized workloads at scale while respecting privacy boundaries. For AI cloud providers, it underscores the growing importance of secure, multi-tenant inference platforms optimized for real-time, user-specific queries.
