Adobe Lightroom Mobile Adds One-Tap AI Eye Opening Feature

Adobe's mobile photo editor now uses generative AI to open closed eyes in portraits with a single tap, leveraging personal photo libraries for realistic results.

AI-Powered Portrait Enhancement Comes to Mobile

Adobe has upgraded its mobile Lightroom app with a new AI-driven feature that automatically detects closed eyes in portraits and offers a one-tap solution to open them. The Open Eyes Quick Action appears as an icon overlay when the app identifies subjects with closed eyes, streamlining what used to be a manual editing process.

Unlike older methods that relied on copying open eyes from another photo, Lightroom's new tool uses generative AI to synthesize eyes that match the subject's lighting, pose, and expression. The system can reference other images of the same person stored in the user's Lightroom library to ensure accurate color, size, and shape matching.

The feature is available across iOS, iPadOS, and Android versions of Lightroom mobile. Free users can try the tool twice before being prompted to subscribe to an Adobe Creative Cloud plan for continued access to AI-powered editing credits.

Why it matters for GPU / AI infrastructure

This enhancement reflects the growing demand for on-device AI processing capabilities in consumer applications. As more mobile apps integrate generative AI features, the need for efficient GPU acceleration—both in cloud rendering and edge computing—becomes critical for delivering real-time, high-quality results without draining device resources.
